Special Presentation – Carol Willingham
All are invited to enjoy a short concert after Mass on Saturday, August, 3, as we are pleased to welcome professional singer and musician Carol Willingham to our parish!
Carol Meyer Willingham is a native of Postville and the fifth generation of a farming family there. She also grew up with the strains of Dvorak in her ear and in her soul. She majored in vocal performance at the University of Iowa, where she received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She also holds a post-bachelor’s certificate from the Mozarteum, a conservatory in Salzburg, Austria, where she studied for two years.
Carol has sung all over the world during her career as a professional opera singer and also spent nine consecutive years as a principal solo artist at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She officially retired from that world in 2000 but has continued to sing at events that have great meaning for her. She currently lives with her husband Doug near Austin, TX.
